(Los Angeles Times / November 22, 2011) Related By Gregory Karp Tribune reporter 2:02 p.m. CDT, August 30, 2013 The U.S. Department of Transportation said Friday it has issued a $350,000 fine against United Airlines for failing to make prompt refunds to customers. The Chicago-based airline also filed false reports to the government about mishandled bags and oversales, DOT alleged, and didn’t file timely reports about incidents involving the loss, injury or death of animals on flights. The fine was specifically for the slow refunds, the DOT said. “When passengers are owed a refund, they have the right to expect the airline to act promptly and give them their money back,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx said in a statement. Airlines must process refund requests within seven days when the ticket is purchased by credit card and 20 days when purchased by cash or check, the DOT said. During an on-site inspection at the airline’s headquarters in Chicago, the DOT found that between March and May of 2012, United failed to process more than 9,000 refund requests in a timely manner.

But oh so happy after the incredible past ten days I’ve spent with Marta and our group gathered at El Esparragal in Andalusia. As a few students exclaimed when our small bus pulled in front of the main house, the photos on their website are far from doing justice to the beauty and warmth of the place! We are lucky! What an incredible experience we’ve had!

Bonne fête à toutes les mamans !
Mother’s Day, la fête des mères, is only celebrated on May 26th in France, but one time is never enough to show the appreciation and love I have for my mother, and for all of the things she taught me.
Including bringing me into the kitchen to cook with her.
I wish her, my mother-in-law, all my mother friends, and all of you who are lucky mums, a very happy special day! Tonight, P. is cooking Japanese for me and Lulu.
We are both happy and hungry for a bowl of beef donburi !
Comfort food at its best!

Weiner also told NBC New York in an interview Friday that he regrets his experiences engaging in online relationships.
“I didn’t like when I was doing it. It was wrong to do. It was wrong to my wife — wrong period,” Weiner said.
For the first time, Weiner seemed exasperated at the questions that continue to trail him about the online relationships, the latest of which were disclosed early last week and have plunged him into fourth place among Democratic primary candidates.
Weiner admitted last week to online sexual relationships with at least three women after resigning from Congress in 2011. In total, he estimated that he had online relationships with between six and 10 women both during his time in Congress and otherwise.
“The behavior that people know about, I did, over an extended period of time, with more than one person,” Weiner told NBC New York. “I just think at a certain point, OK, I think people know these embarrassing things about me. I think at a certain point now we have to have a conversation that goes to, all right, what else should people know?”
